Helpful information

Struggling with debt?

If you’re behind on bills, loans or rent, don’t ignore it — contact a debt charity early. StepChange (0800 138 1111) and Citizens Advice can help you understand your options and create a plan. You won’t be judged.

Benefits you might be missing

Billions of pounds of benefits go unclaimed every year. Use the Turn2Us benefits calculator (turn2us.org.uk) to check what you’re entitled to. Citizens Advice can also carry out a full benefits check for you.

Facing eviction or homelessness?

If you’re at risk of losing your home, contact Shelter (0808 800 4444) or Citizens Advice immediately. Chesterfield Borough Council also has a housing options team who can help — don’t wait until you’re homeless.

Problems at work?

If you’ve been unfairly dismissed, discriminated against or not paid correctly, ACAS (0300 123 1100) can advise on your rights. You may have grounds for an employment tribunal claim — always seek advice before accepting a settlement.
